Last Saturday, June 29th, the Maryland Peer Advisory Council (MPAC), a grantee of OSI’s Addiction and Health Equity program, hosted its first Advocacy and Leadership Program Fellows Day, a celebration of the first cohort’s completion of the program.
The two-dozen participants in the program’s first cohort (pictured) met weekly starting in early spring and participated in sessions designs to prepare them to be advocates in the field of addiction and public health, including sessions on navigating the legislative process and creating effective campaigns. On Fellows Day, each participant gave a presentation about an advocacy issue. MPAC holds monthly calls to keep the current cohort engaged and working together on their various advocacy issues.
MPAC is now planning the next round of the Advocacy and Leadership Program for a second cohort.
